Today we woke up very early, at 6:45, to take a boat from Buenos Aires to Colonia del Sacramento. It ended up being one of the most memorable days of the trip. We boarded a large ferry that crossed the Rio de la Plata and arrived in Colonia, where we began with a historical walking tour through the town. The streets were very beautiful and filled with history. Afterward we took a bus tour around the coast to see more of the surrounding area. We stopped at a colosseum shaped building which used to host bull fighting shows before being turned into a casino, and then was made into a historical site. At that place I got a ham and cheese sandwich which was very good. We then went to lunch at a restaurant and were then given free time to explore. We went to the shops and they had very high quality wool sweaters and scarfs. One interesting thing I learned is that wealthy Argentinians from Buenos Aires travel to Colonia on the weekend as a vacation spot. It felt a lot like a small town but with a coastal atmosphere and old architecture.

One of my favorite parts of the town was how many dogs there were roaming around. A lot of the dogs seemed to be strays but also a lot had collars. All of the dogs were very chill with each other and I thought that was interesting. Public dogs are cared for by the community while private dogs are free to roam before returning home at the end of the day. One interesting thing I learned today was how deeply connected the community in Colonia is. The residents collectively care for each other and have a strong sense of compassion. I bought a tiny porcelaine cup at one of the stores which was very cheap but also very good quality. 

I also want to add how much I admire Jason. He is very stylish especially with his hats and he is very worldly. I had a conversation with him before the trip started and learned that he had previously visited Paraguay which I thought was very good.
