Is this “tech”?

Today was finally time for my group and I to lead the site visit at ANDD. Similarly to what we have already seen with entrepreneurship in Morocco, ANDD dedicates themselves as a company to instruct those who are uneducated with technology. In doing so, they help to give an understanding to the internet to locals.

This in ideology is quite similar to what we learned about the Anou Cooperative, however the implementation turns out to be quite different. To start, both operatives have a centralized goal to educate. By this, I mean in all aspects of technology, and if that means to understand how to do basic operations on a computer, both will serve to make all who try capable of doing so. However, the Anou Cooperative serves as a way to eliminate the middleman, and help artisans display and move their product directly from the craftswoman to the buyer. However, what ANDD does is to educate individuals on how to do this themselves. By teaching the ways of the internet, social media, and AI, ANDD is able to help local entrepreneurs learn the language of the internet to do with however they please.

This afternoon following lunch, we had a sit down with some female entrepreneurs who had learned through ANDD’s program. There, they individually went in front of everybody and presented their products and how they use their newfound digital knowledge to promote and sell online. Interestingly enough, all of the women had something in common, they all preferred to use social media, mainly Instagram, to promote what they had to sell. I am really glad that ANDD prioritizes educating their clients in social media knowledge, since I believe that in today’s age it is by far the easiest platform to promote and expand quickly.
