We had an early start this morning to depart for Regensburg to visit Aumovio and explore the Old Town Hall. As soon as we arrived, I noticed how different this city felt compared to other places we had visited. The colorful buildings and riverside made the city feel very historic with a special touch. Walking through the old town almost felt like stepping into another time period because so much of the medieval architecture still previals.

Our visit to Aumovio gave me a better understanding of the company’s operations and how they continue innovating using technology. I found it interesting to hear about the company’s work environment and the level of collaboration needed across different departments. The visit made me reflect on the value of adaptability and communication are in a global business setting.

Later, we toured the Old Town Hall and learned more about Regensburg’s political and historical significance. I was surprised by how much history was connected to one building and how many important decisions had taken place there over the centuries. Walking through the old rooms and hallways made the history feel much more real than simply reading about it in class. I especially noticed how carefully the city preserves its historical sites while still feeling active and modern today
One of the most memorable parts of visiting the Old Town Hall was seeing the torture chamber located beneath the building. Walking into the underground area immediately changed the atmosphere of the tour. The dim lighting, cobblestone floors, and preserved torture device were interesting to see and learn about in person, but also unsettling. Seeing the actual equipment used centuries ago was shocking because it made the harsh realities of medieval justice feel much more real.

I was especially surprised by how public punishment and torture were once viewed as normal parts of maintaining order and control. The heavy chains and interrogation chairs are a reflection of how different legal systems and human rights standards were during medieval times. It was difficult to imagine people actually experiencing those conditions as we touched and held various torture devices.
After the tour, we spent time exploring the city, shopping, and walking near the river. I really enjoyed slowing down and observing our surrounding because it helped me appreciate the culture beyond the tourist attractions. The relaxed atmosphere and historic scenery made Regensburg feel peaceful. I enjoyed learning about German medieval history in an engaging way that made helped me understand both Germany’s past and present.
