One of  my most anticipated days of the trip, today we visited the Neuschwanstein Castle and I can confidently say it lived up to all the expectations!! I’m not going to lie, the bus ride was rough and I experienced some brutal motion sickness… but I bounced back quickly and was ready to go. We immediately got off the bus and stopped by the lake to take pictures, the air felt crisp and it was a perfect temperature outside. The view of the Alps looked like a postcard and got us more excited for the castle.

Although we didn’t ride the horses up, we were able to see them walking up and down; I think a hike up to the castle was honestly needed for us to bond and be in nature. We walked up to the first lookup point and my jaw was on the floor. Even on a cloudy day, the view was insane and it kept getting better the further up we walked. The inside of the castle was just as impressive as the outside. I mean seriously, what could King Ludwig II possibly need all that space for? We only saw a small portion of the rooms, so I’m curious as to what the rest of the rooms looked like. The intricate details and the abundance of swans was so interesting. 

Once we finished the tour, we decided to continue the hike up to the pedestrian bridge, which I was really hoping we would do. It was PACKED and also slightly wet from the rain… so a bit unsettling. However, the view was breathtaking and I can see why it is such an attraction. It did indeed remind me of the Disney castle, but even better because of the beautiful surrounding area. I could have stayed there for hours and hours longer just staring at the castle and the view of the Alps surrounding it.

On our way home, we stopped in Füssen to grab lunch and walk around. This was one of the most quaint towns I have ever visited. The cobblestone streets and local shops made it very warm and inviting. We grabbed a sandwich and coffee from a local bakery and popped into some cute shops. We also stopped at the Weiskirche on the way home and observed a few minutes of the mass, the music was beautiful and so was the architecture. I love looking up at the ceiling and seeing such beautiful and intricate designs, it doesn’t take much time there to appreciate the architecture and beautiful history. After a few days of being immersed in the automotive industry and going on factory tours, being outside and seeing more that Germany has to offer was amazing. Neuschwanstein is easily the most beautiful view I have ever seen and I can already tell that this is going to be a major highlight of the trip.
