The day in Munich was such a fun experience. I couldn’t contain my excitement as we left Augsburg and made our way to Munich!
Getting off the train, I immediately noticed the change in atmosphere. Everyone in the train station seemed to be busy and in a rush. This was the kind of city atmosphere that I am used to in the United States. This later made more sense on our guided tour of the city, where we learned that 1.6 million people live in Munich alone while Germany itself is roughly the size of Montana! Needless to say, there are a lot of people and not a lot of space!
As we walked through the city, there was a variety of tourists and locals roaming the streets. At the time we got there, the Glockenspiel was about to go off at 12:00pm. We gathered in the town square where the new town hall stood. It was crazy seeing everyone in the same place, the space was completely packed!!
Once separating from the group, I walked to one of my bucket list locations. When doing research prior to visiting Munich, I new I needed to see the Munich Residence, Germany’s largest city palace. Once again, a beautiful space that allowed me to deepen my appreciation for architecture. Each room resembled something from a movie. This palace was ever going, each room decorated in a way that resembles the status of the people who once stayed there. As I wandered through the rooms, I found myself imaging what life was like before my time.
After seeing the Munich Residence, Carly and I made our way to Eisbachwelle, a famous standing wave in the Eisbach river in Munich. This was something crazy to see as the surfers took turns riding the wave!
After a Munich tour and dinner, I think we were all exhausted. Another great day in Germany!
