Today was our last day on this trip. I’m sad that it’s over, but also excited to go home. We spent the day walking all around London. Which I love walking and getting to see the city. In the morning we took the underground train or the tube to the main part of the city. We walked past Big Ben, which deserves all the attention it gets. It is amazing, I looked it up and it was took 16 years to build. We went to the Florence Nightingale Museum where we learned about her life and other important nurses in history. Florence Nightingale became known as the “lady with the lamp.” She led nurses as she cared for thousands of wounded soldiers in the Crimean war and prevented medical disaster in the British army. After that we toured the museum where we able to adventure around before being our own until the evening where we would go to Piccadilly Theatre to see the musical, Moulin Rouge. Me and my friends had planned out our day and so we began with our walk to Borough market. There we walked around and saw a lot of produce, products, and other things to buy. I stopped at a tea place to get some to bring back. My friends bought some pastries and bread to try that they said were delicious. We were able to try samples like juice and food. My friends even bought some juice after having a sampl. We also bought chocolate covered strawberries in a cup that were one of the best strawberries I’ve ever had. Then we got an early lunch which it was hard to decide with so many options. I ended of sharing dumpling and noodles with my one friend. The food was amazing,I loved it.
Then we went to the London bridge. There we got to look out to the bridge and take pictures. We walked to our next destination and on the way stopped at various places. I bought ice cream or gelato, one scoop of chocolate and the other strawberry. We watched a street performance where this man fit his whole body into an empty tennis racket and rode on a 6 foot unicycle while making jokes that may not have been appropriate for the school field trip that was there. It was very funny and entertaining though. Along the way we also went into some souvenir shops and got some gifts for ourselves and our friends and family. We did not go on the Farris wheel also known as the London eye. It is very tall and I would’ve if the line wasn’t so long. Next, we were back at Big Ben. We got to take some pictures with it this time and also rested for a bit. Then we continued on our way. We walked through a park where one man was feeding some squirrels. I asked for some of the peanuts and got to feed them as well. Then we stopped at a little cafe for some water and coffee. Our timing was working out well and right as we got to Buckingham Palace we watched the changing of the guards. This was fun and we got to listen to them play music with their instruments. The statue in front of the palace was gold and very majestic, so we stopped and looked at it. We got to go to a few more stores. We went to the Jellycat store which sells stuffed animals and there were tons of people when we were leaving. So we asked what was going on and apparently Dua Lipa was coming. We waited and she did come after a bit, but we just got to glance at her. Then before we new it, what was a long day also felt very short was coming to an end. We got to the theatre early and just relaxed until it was time to go in. Ending at the Piccadilly Theatre was the perfect way to end this trip. Moulin Rouge was an amazing production and I loved the performance so much. There was definitely never a dull moment, it was very entertaining and colorful. I love getting to see musicals and it is so impressive the amount of talent and work in a show such as this one. Finally, I was able to hit my step goal of 30k steps for day, which was the most I have taken on this trip. I am so thankful for the experiences and friends this trip has brought me. I have learned so much and have made so many memories. I have loved every moment of it and hope it won’t be my last study abroad trip.
