On the final day in the Netherlands, we are going to The Hague. This is the political capital of the Dutch; it is where all political action takes place. While we were here, we learned about the history of the Dutch government. The government has a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system. This means they have a king and elected government officials. There are 15 political parties, unlike the U.S. two-party system. We learned that these parties are very chill with each other and often get along. This is very interesting, as I wonder if this system would also work in the U.S. We also saw the International Court of Justice, where countries resolve conflicts peacefully. It was crazy to see this building in person, and it was a super nice place. It’s also crazy to know that this is where most international trials and prisons take place. After this, we headed back to Rotterdam for our farewell dinner. It was very emotional, as I will truly miss this place and am very happy with the memories I have made here. I have learned a lot here, and I do hope to take everything I have learned back with me to help me with my future engineering projects.
