Our trip is coming to an end, so this will cover the last days. On Wednesday, we were able to start painting our pots because they were dry. To paint, we used hair that was tied onto a little stick. I painted some triangles with dots in them. On the inside of the bowl, on the bottom of the bowl, I put a white dot, and on the sides I used my finger to paint. I was pretty happy with it. Soon after that, we had another presentation on chocolate. We tried some chocolate, and then we got to make our own. We ground the cacao beans and then added them to sugar and water, cooking them over the fire. Once it was done, we were given bananas and strawberries to dip into the chocolate syrup. With the leftover chocolate syrup, we molded it into a bar and put it in the fridge to harden. After this, we had lunch, and then I took a nap in a hammock while it was raining. I woke up an hour and a half later and went to the pool. Later, we went to a restaurant in the town. We took taxis there, and this guy was flying down the road. We spent some time there and then came back to go to sleep.
Thursday was our last full day. We started with breakfast and then went to a small cacao farm. To get there, we took taxis, and on the way there, the other taxi broke down, so we had to fit everyone in one taxi. When we got there, we saw cacao trees along with some lemon lime trees. It was raining the whole time, so it was kinda muddy. They let us keep a cacao bean, but I got rid of it because you can’t bring it back to the US unless you dry it. We saw the tables where they dried the cacao beans. After the tour, we had a tasting. I bought a bunch of chocolate, and I also got this chocolate popsicle that was really good. Soon after, we headed back all in the same taxi, it was crazy. We had some lunch when we got back, and then relaxed and packed since we were leaving tomorrow. We also shared the videos that we made with the people who worked there. Later that night, the people who worked there played some music, and we were dancing. Then we went to sleep.
Friday was the day that we were leaving. We got up and had breakfast, and then after that we had a discussion about ideas for making their own boutique chocolate brand. After that, we were all ready to leave, but the bus was delayed because of landslides. We were waiting for like 3 hours before the bus finally got here. The bus ride was pretty long, but we took a stop to get lunch. I got two chicken skewers and one sausage skewer. They were really good. I also got some snacks at the stop. We eventually got to the airport, and there was a restaurant right outside the airport where I got a steak, a brownie, and ice cream. It was a very good dinner. At 9pm we checked our bags. Then we went through customs and got to the gate. We got on the plane and after 4 hours landed in Miami. Our next flight was in 3 hours to Philly. It was so nice having Global Entry because I just showed the guy the app, and he let me through. We had to recheck our bags since we had a connection. I was so tired because I didn’t sleep on the first flight. I had been awake for 24 hours. I think I slept a little bit at our next gate. We got on the plane, and then I slept for an hour. We landed in Philly, and I went home. This was a very fun trip, and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to go on this program.
