I can’t believe I’m writing the final blog post of this trip. The two weeks flew by. This was definitely one of the coolest experiences of my life! I’m so grateful for all the memories and friends I’ve made through this trip.
On our last day we presented our final presentation. It was interesting to see how our pre-departure presentations differed from our final presentations. It’s obvious that we have all learned a lot on this trip. Seeing the hospitals and clinics first hard really helped us gain a good understanding of how the healthcare system here works. I’m so proud of everyone and how they stepped out of their comfort zones to learn something new about a different culture.
Personally, touring the hospitals and clinics was the highlight of my trip. That was a once and a lifetime opportunity for me. Seeing the difference in healthcare here compared to the United States, was shocking and very eye opening.
Another thing I’ve learned is how welcoming and kind the people of Argentina are. There were many times on this trip that we embarrassed ourselves because of our lack Spanish, but the people here were always understanding and did their best to make us comfortable and have a fun time. Shoutout to our new friend Fran, from Austal. After meeting Fran at our first Austral visit, he continued to stay in contact with the boys and even hung out with us a few nights. He taught us a lot about the local culture and even some Argentina slang.
Overall, this experience was better than anything I could of expected. I will take all that I’ve learned with me as I start my career as a nurse. I hope to stay in contact with all the friends i made here. If anyone is considering taking the Plus3 Argentina trip, I would definitely recommend it.
