While I was looking through my camera roll trying to find one photo that best represented my time in Morocco I struggled. I almost chose a photo of me shopping through the Souks or a photo of the beach, or even the ice cream shop that I visited a lot of the days we were in Rabat. However, I think the photo that best represents the time I spent in Morrocco was the photo of my host Mom and I at the farewell party. I chose this photo because she went above in beyond always making me feel like part of the family, making me meals, offering to wash my laundry, giving me a place to stay, and even talking to me through google translate asking about my day or telling me about her life. I really appreciate the time that I spend with her and in the family and I know my trip would never have been the same without her.
I learned a lot about myself through this trip. First, I learned that I could bring myself out of my comfort zone and really enjoy it. I am someone who likes to feel like an expert when I am doing something but in Morocco, I had to be okay with not knowing exactly what was happening or what people around me where saying. I think this allowed me to become easier going and realize that I do not need to be know exactly how to do something before doing it. Professionally I learned a lot about how companies run. The site visits we had allowed me to see that everyone has a starting point, and people can come really far when they put their mind to it. We learned from a lot of different people, from beginner entrepreneurs to experts in the field and seeing the range really helped me expand my view of an entrepreneur. I learned a lot academically on this program. I learned about Ai and how it can be a threat and also an opportunity for us, about Moroccan culture and the large steps they are taking towards women and furthering their rights, and I learned just how quickly Morocco is developing businesswise.
Overall, I am very thankful for the opportunity I had to go on the Plus3 program and all of the information and lessons I was able to learn. I can say with 100% confidence that this is something that I will never forget and will look back on fondly for forever. I could not have asked for a better location to travel to on the program or a better group to go with. Thanks again Morocco, until next time.
