The Journey Comes to an End

Honestly this trip was a load of fun but it was very physically exhausting. Experiencing German culture was a great experience. Between the early mornings, long days, and constant travel, I was definitely feeling it by the time our free day arrived and definitely was excited to go home on Saturday.

As the trip started to come to an end, I found myself reflecting on everything we had experienced over the past two weeks. From visiting some of Germany’s most well-known companies to exploring historic cities, castles, and even a concentration camp, every day seemed to offer something completely different. It was worth the exhaustion. There are definitely going to be things I miss. The city of Augsburg was so peaceful and walkable, I know when I get back to Pittsburgh it’s gonna be a shock to my system to see everyone constantly moving and working 24/7.

Looking back, it is hard to believe how much we were able to see and accomplish in such a short amount of time. Between the trips, historical visits, and managing the project making sure it was prepared on time, sometimes it felt like a lot, but all in all it was an experience I’m glad I got to take part in.

One thing I think I will take away from this trip is a new appreciation for slowing down and being present. In the United States, and especially as a college student, it often feels like there is always another assignment, meeting, or responsibility waiting for you. In Germany, particularly in Augsburg, life seemed much less rushed. People still worked hard, but there was a stronger emphasis on enjoying the moment and spending time with friends and family. Experiencing this first hand with the Germans but also in Salzburg was something I needed to experience and I am glad I get to take this experience elsewhere.
