After a very taxing, but phenomenal 2 weeks, we made it to the last day, and I was very grateful to have a free day to ourselves to explore whatever we pleased. While we all previously planned a day in Salzburg, Austria, me and 2 other guys in the group loved our day in Munich, so we decided to run it back one last time. We were exhausted from the last 2 weeks, so instead of waking up at 7 AM again, we planned on getting some rest and then catching the 12:30 train to Munich. I was really looking forward to going back to the tents with the different food stands, especially the first one we went to with the bratwurst sandwiches.
We arrived in Munich around 1:15 and went straight to the food stand with the wurst sandwiches. Lucky for us, the guy who was working there last week was there again. He was so excited to see us that he gave us all the sandwiches in the house, so we tipped him in return. This is what I am talking about with their culture, they are so friendly and they take care of others. After this, we needed to burn off the calories from those sandwiches, so we took a walk to Englisch Garten, the biggest park in the world. Before this though, we stopped at the Bayern Munich store and I got my first ever soccer jersey. While it was quite expensive, it will be worth every penny.

After arriving at the park, I understood all the hype. There were guys riding naturally occurring waves, it was so fun to watch, I could never do that. We then started strolling through the rest of the park and found ourselves in a basketball game against a couple of Germans. Let’s just say their basketball skill did not compare to us, we crushed them. We found a little place in the park and we got a beer and then walked back into the city. This is where the day almost was ruined for me. About 30 minutes went by, and I realized that I didn’t have my jersey with me and I started to freak out. I knew I left it at the place in the park we got the beer at, but I didn’t know how to get back. I started running all throughout the park and thankfully it was in the same place that I left it. God was on my side today.

We finished our day at Augustiner Keller, a restaurant in Munich. The atmosphere there was awesome, it was so lively and filled with energy. All 3 of us got the pork shoulder, and this was the first time I have ever tried pork shoulder. It was some of the freshest meat I have ever tasted and I was very glad I got that instead of schnitzel. I learned a lot about myself and Munich after spending a day with no schedule, mostly that I truly believe I could live here. I would love to come back without a tight schedule everyday, and enjoy the sights of Munich as well as walking around drinking beer and eating bratwurst, Germans know how to live!
