We started off by driving a few minutes to Recoleta to a private hospital. We sat and talked to physicians and other people that ran the hospital there. This hospital was, in my opinion, the nicest hospital we have visited so far. The amenities were high end, the rooms were private and looked like newer construction, and they had updated technology. Although we have seen other private institutions, this one stood out due to their extra funding from donors and impressive business strategy. All private hospitals charge the same amount for health insurance, so it can be difficult for different hospitals to stand out. Private hospitals themselves are financed through private insurance plans and out of pocket payments that can come from donations or directly through the payer. The second private clinic we visited was very similar to this private hospital and is owned by the OMIT insurance company. Their facility and services were very high end and it was clear that they were dedicated to their patients. 

By seeing these two high end private hospitals, it made clear how different the private sector is from the public sector is just from the appearance of the hospitals. Additionally, both the private and public delivery systems are financed and structured completely differently. The public sector is financed by general taxation and is open to everyone. On the other hand, Private insurance is financed through monthly payments by members and care is met with higher quality technology and shorter wait times.
