Day 11: Presentations Part 2 (May 17)

Today’s blog is going to be pretty short as not too much happened today.  I got a late start to the day because my team’s project was finished and I didn’t have to get lunch until noon.  When lunch time arrived, me and my team went back to Mensa at the university to eat and then met with the German students we were working with.  Today was super hot and everyone was sweating and feeling tired.  In an attempt to beat the heat, we got ice cream at a local pizza shop on campus and continued to practice our presentation.  At five, we met up with the rest of the groups and got settled in for presentations.  Every group had to give a twenty minute presentation on their company and then take questions afterward.  My team went third out of five groups and I think we did pretty well.  My part was pretty short because we had to cut down the time of our presentation to meet the guidelines and my part was not very important.  I think our presentation went well, and we answered the questions we were asked to the best of our ability.

I learned a lot about all of the companies that were talked about and continued to be surprised by the differences between German and American companies.  The companies here are always concerned with the health of the environment and are willing to put their money where their mouth is and invest in new technology.  I think it’s easier to do this in Germany because of how the government subsidizes environmentally-friendly companies and ideas.  Either way, learning about the companies throughout this trip was one of the best parts of the program.

We all rushed back to the hotel after we were all done in order to take showers and change because it was still hot out and the room we were in didn’t have air conditioning.  I later got dinner with some friends and then just relaxed for the rest of the night.  Thanks for reading this less than exciting blog entry.  Tomorrow should be more fun with our last trip of the program to Ulm.
