My name is Jeremy Lu, currently a freshmen part of the College of Business Administration at University of Pittsburgh. I am double majoring in Finance and Accounting with a minor in Economics. In the future, I hope to work either in the banking industry or part a private equity firm.
I spent the first fourteen years of my life in Beijing, China and moved to New Jersey, U.S my freshmen year of high school. During high school, I was part of my school’s basketball and bowling team. Fun fact, my personal best at bowling was a 267. I am really into sports especially basketball, I follow both NBA and college basketball. My friends from back home call me “old man” because I love collecting stamps and coins. In my room, I have a whole shelf of booklets full of stamps and coins from all over the world!
It wasn’t until my Senior year of high school that I decided to step foot into the business world. My dad took a huge part of my decision. When I was younger, my dad would always tell me his experience in the business world. From moving to Italy at an age of 5 and opening a restaurants in Rome 15 years later, to working with all kinds of people in all kinds of industry from all over the world. I want to see what he saw and experienced, that’s why I chose business.
I am really excited to be part of the Plus3 Germany program. The biggest reason is I am thrilled to be able to learn about a brand new culture. When I first moved to U.S, it was exciting and fascinating to see the similarities and differences between the Chinese and American culture. Now, with a chance to stay in Germany, I am looking forward to see what the German culture offers. I will also be spending my 19th birthday during this trip in Germany, my friend also coming on this trip told me, “trust me it’s going to be so fun.”
Either way, I look forward to all the new exciting thing I will see and touch and learn on this trip.
