Ciao Italia!

Hi!  My name is Nikki Perry and I am going to be a sophomore for the 2018-2019 school year.  I am a bioengineering major, and I hope to pursue a chemistry and computer science minor.  I am 19 years old, and I come from Greenville, PA.  I have one younger brother named Vijay.  At the University of Pittsburgh, I am a member of the Heinz Chapel Choir, Project Sunshine, Phi Eta Sigma, and the Society of Women Engineers.  I also work part time as a student researcher for the McGowan Institute of Regenerative Medicine.  In my spare time, I enjoy reading, running, and spending time with my family and friends.

Why Plus3?

I always had an interest in studying abroad.  I chose to participate in the Plus3 program because my peer advisor had also participated and encouraged me to do so.  I felt that it was a good introduction to perhaps a longer study abroad program in the future.  I found the various supply chain applications in each country interesting, and I would have been honored to be selected for any of the Plus3 programs.  However, I am extremely excited to learn all about the supply chain in the fashion industry in Italy.  I have always had an interest in fashion, and hopefully after studying abroad, I will have a greater knowledge of how exactly clothing goes from factories to stores. I also hope to gain more cultural awareness, and immerse myself in Italian culture during my two weeks abroad.

Because I love fashion, I am excited to see the factories and various mills where famous brands such as Versace, Gucci, and many others get the materials for their products.  I am also very excited to eat all of the Italian food I can possibly fit into my stomach for two weeks…. Especially gelato!
