Greetings! My name is Sarah Fritzsche and I am a student from the Swanson School of Engineering (SSOE) at the University of Pittsburgh. I am originally from northern Virginia and am attending the SSOE to study mechanical engineering. Since coming to Pittsburgh, I have made it my goal to explore as many of the city’s fine eateries as I can because I am a food enthusiast. This summer I have been graced with the great opportunity to take part in the Plus3 Vietnam program.
With Plus3 Vietnam I will be going to Vietnam for a two week stay in which our group will go on historic tours, company visits, and other sightseeing ventures in order to learn the culture of Vietnam with a focus on development. I am looking forward to this trip as a chance to try new things that I am completely unfamiliar with and to get outside of my comfort zone in order to be stretched and to grow as a person. I also look forward to the opportunity to develop academically as I increase my depth of knowledge about Vietnamese culture and language as well as my knowledge of the way in which companies and developing countries industrialize and are affected by globalization. Finally, I hope to develop as a professional with this experience as I learn transferable skills that will be valuable in the workplace, such as communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to work well with a group.
