Hey everyone! I’m Fodun Ologunde, I’m from Nigeria and I currently live in Philly. I am a computer engineering major in the Swanson School of Engineering. I am a proud member of the National Society of Black Engineers and Pitt EXCEL, an undergraduate diversity engineering academic organization. Next fall, I look forward to becoming a Pitt EXCEL Peer Counselor and an SSOE Peer Advisor.
Outside of classes I enjoy playing volleyball, designing, and watching action movies. I also love travelling and experiencing life through different lens’. There is so much out there to experience and I am excited to add China to the list of beautiful places I visit through the Plus3 Program.
I chose the Plus3 Program primarily because I thought it would be a great opportunity to see how engineering and business principles are carried out in real life and on the grand-scale. While sitting in classes for weeks at a time, sometimes it’s difficult to see specifically how the things we learn translate in the real world. I believe this study abroad experience will give me this chance. It is also an added bonus that my particular program of choice is focused on smartphones because in this ever changing technologically driven world, it is imperative that I keep up with these changes as an aspiring engineer.
Academic and professional reasons aside, I chose this program because of the destination: China! From my days in middle school learning about the Terra Cotta Warriors and the Great Wall, I have been fascinated with the Chinese culture. Not to speak of the people who have such a rich history of traditions that I can engage with. I really cannot wait to learn more about engineering principles, meet new people, experience a different culture, and have an amazing study abroad experience!
