Hi! My name is Kari Eshleman, and I am studying mechanical engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. This year, aside from studying and doing homework 24/7, I have enjoyed meeting new people, participating in clubs like the Society of Women Engineers, and exploring the city of Pittsburgh. When I have free time, I enjoy traveling, reading, playing tennis, and cooking/baking. Also, I really enjoy going to stores and reading magazines to catch up on the latest trends in fashion, so learning about the fashion industry while in Milan is definitely something I will enjoy.
Ever since I studied abroad in high school, I knew I wanted to again, and Plus3 was my first opportunity to do that. Although Italy was not my first choice, I am looking forward to learning about the culture of a country that I’ve never been to before. I also hope to learn more about the fashion industry in Italy. Since I’ve been studying science and math for the past two semesters, it will be interesting to learn about something completely different! Of course, one of the main things I am excited for is the food and coffee in Italy. I am always up for trying new foods, and I don’t think I could have gotten through the past two semesters without my daily cup of coffee. Since I have never been to Italy or spoken Italian before, one thing I am nervous about is the language barrier. I hope to learn some Italian when I’m on my trip while also seeing the amazing sights and experiencing the fashion industry!
