Hello! My name is Christopher Ng and I am a rising sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh. I am a student in the College of Business Administration and intend on pursuing a double major in Marketing and Supply Chain Management. At Pitt, I am involved with the club Ultimate Frisbee team and Chinese American Students Association, as well as a member of the professional business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. I grew up in Westfield, New Jersey, and have really enjoyed my time in Pittsburgh thus far.
When I first heard about the Plus3 program, I knew it was an opportunity I could not pass up. Traveling to Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai for two weeks will give me the perfect taste of studying abroad and hopefully intrigue me for future trips abroad. I hope to learn as much as I can about the business culture in China and broaden my understanding of international business. I am excited to experience a whole new culture and view the business world in a different perspective. With a focus on the smartphone industry, this trip can help me get a better understanding of marketing and supply chain management and show what a huge impact smartphones have had on the global market. I will take everything I learn on this trip and apply it to my education back in the United States to make me a more well-rounded business student!
Although I have traveled abroad to France and Italy, this will be my first time in China. It seems a little scary knowing that I will be living in an unfamiliar environment for two weeks. However, I am thrilled to visit many sites such as the Great Wall and Terra-Cotta Warriors, and for the new relationships I will make with the people I am traveling with. China has so much to offer, and I want to experience as much as I can during my time there! May 5th can’t come soon enough!
