Today was another traveling day. We left the hotel in Florence this morning and rode the bus about three hours to Verona. I was not sure what to expect from this new city, because I have never really heard anything about it before. But when we got here, I was so pleasantly surprised. Verona is definitely my favorite city that we have been to in Italy so far.
After checking in to our hotel, we met in the lobby to go on a walking tour of the city. Right down the street from out hotel was the main square of the city, also the location of the big arena, which is used for music festivals and concerts. Just ahead of that was an endless street filled with restaurants, stores, and gelaterias. I love the cobblestone streets and atmosphere of the area, and will definitely be doing some shopping during our stay here. The streets were so lively and there was so much activity going on, yet it was also very peaceful and serene. We even got to see the tombs and houses of Romeo and Juliet!
When the walking tour was over, we enjoyed a group dinner at a restaurant near our hotel. Tomorrow we will be taking our day trip to Venice, and I can’t wait!
