Sadly, today was the day where we had to say goodbye to the beautiful city of Florence. This place was beyond belief! However, it was time to go to Verona! Most of the morning was spent on a bus sleeping and listening to music. Between naps we were awoken by the beautiful scenery from outside the bus window. Tall green mountains with little houses on top filled our windows. For lunch, we went to a gas station that was big enough to be an airport. This place had a full chocolate, watch and liquor store in side. On top of that, it was over 5 places to get food. Definitely the biggest gas station I’d ever seen. There were pasta stations and panini stations but we wanted to be as Italian as possible so we got Burger King. This probably wasn’t the best idea considering we had to suffer through two more hours on the bus now all with stomach aches.
Finally, new had made it to Verona. Our hotel is so beautiful. The beds feel like clouds and the view of the mountains is amazing. After resting for about an hour, we started our historical walking tour of Verona. Walking through the city seemed as though we had gone straight onto a movie set. Music played through the cobble stone streets and kids played all throughout the park. We walked through marble covered side walks to the houses of Romeo and Juliet. Juliets house was packed as everyone wanted to take a picture on her famous balcony. We took our pictures from a far and continued on with the tour. We ended up at the Ponte Pietra which is a famous bridge that overlooks the mountains. I was in complete awe at all of the beauty and history that surrounded me.
Later, we enjoyed a great group dinner of pasta and veal. So far Verona seems to be one of the most amazing, quaint, romantic cities I have ever been to.
