I CANAL Get Over Venice

Today we went to the beautiful city of Venice. Venice is probably one of the cities that I had heard of most as an Americans for its massive water ways, but I had no idea how big the water way system was here. There really are not any cars to be found in the city; all traveling is done by foot or boat. We arrived by train (which was a great nap) and immediately hopped into a water taxi. The sights on the way were so stunning, like nothing I could have experienced just from pictures.

Next we went on gondolas in groups of 6. The sights were incredible and it’s amazing how much control the men who steer have of the gondola when they have just one ore. We looked around a bit, but my group mostly took pictures for Instagram for the gondola.

After we hopped off the gondola and went to go get lunch, which was good. I had lasagna and fries and of course some bread as always. Afterwards I got gelato because that’s just how I do. After our stomachs were full we went on a long walking tour of the city.

Venice is a beautiful city that offers sites, stores, restaurants, churches, etc. The city was practically built on water, so anywhere you look, there is bound to be water and some type of bridge. There are many narrow, ally-like side streets that make the city almost like a maze – Google Maps doesn’t even work for navigating around the town. The town may be one of my favorite so far, purely because it is almost like a fantasy. Something like this would never exist in America which is why it is so intriguing to me. Now I am on my way back to the beautiful Verona. Ciao!
