Today, we woke up and got ready for our day trip to Venice! We boarded a train that took us from Verona, only making a few stops on the way. When we got off the train, we immediately walked to a water taxi that took us toward the center of the town. Then, we had our gondola experience. We had a large group and there were not enough adults to go on each boat, and I told our tour guide that I am a lifeguard, so I was the “leader” of my gondola. This was a pretty big responsibility but I think I handled it well. The gondolas looked really cool, and the ride was quite soothing, passing through all the little canals. All of the bridges and buildings were so pretty, and we passed some people playing music, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
After the gondola rides, we had a couple hours of free time to get lunch. We walked around for a little trying to find a place, and many restaurants were eager to try and seat us. We ended up choosing a place that gave us a student discount on pasta, and it was really good! Next was the walking tour of Venice, where we saw Doge’s Palace and many other fascinating buildings. The tour took a while, but I loved walking through and seeing all of the different canals. When the tour was finished, we had time to get dinner, shop and eat gelato. Then, we took a train back to Verona, and I slept most of the way home.
