Amazon

When we first walked into Amazon, I saw a striking resemblance to the setup of Google. Lots of comfy chairs, colors, and a relaxed atmosphere. I got nervous that this visit was going to be as casual as Google, and they would ask us if we have any questions in the first 30 seconds. Thankfully, they had slides prepared and offered us coffee, which is always a good sign!

The first presenter talked about Alexa, which I thought was extremely interesting. I learned a ton, and at the same time the presenter was very personable and shared some stories about his personal life and family. I was amazed to learn the extent of which Amazon Web services are running this world, basically.

Something I would’ve changed about the visit is having the opportunity talk to an actual business person there. I felt as though the engineers were extremely technical and talked about something we knew very little about, and also it seemed very specific to Ireland. I wanted to learn more about their supply chains and marketing techniques, however the information they did provide us was neat!
