Day 10: Verona

Our second and last day in Verona started with breakfast and shopping. This hotel has the best breakfast out of the three hotels that we’ve stayed in. Their croissants are just so flaky! After breakfast, I was shopping with a few friends. While a lot of the stores included high-end fashion, my friends and I found a couple gems featuring cute items that I could actually afford, and I walked away happy with my mini haul.

One of the other things I did this morning was going to the house o Juliet. While there I got to look at different pieces of art that depicted the world’s most famous love story. It’s interesting to think about how important the house of Juliet is to Verona even though the story is just a Shakespearean myth. That just shows the story’s importance and timelessness.

This afternoon we visited a company called Mero & More, which is a member of the Verona Fashion Consortium. This visit started first with a lecture on how both Mero & More and the Verona Fashion Consortium operate. Mero & Moore creates samples of pieces for various brands that could end up in stores. What’s really stands out about their company is that they give space for new designers to come to work on their team and to help with the process. Because of this Mero & More obviously has the designers they need, but they support in terms of efficiency, so they decided to become a member of the Verona Fashion Consortium, which works with many different companies in being more efficient. In addition to the lecture, we also toured Mero & More and got their see their process of creating sample products from start to finish.

After the lecture and tour, Mero & More provided us with dinner. We had sandwhiches, pizza, lasanga, and this cakey brownie thing which was really good. Because we were given dinner, I was back in my hotel room with no reason to ventue back out into Verona by 7:30. How it’s nearly midnight and I haven’t posted my blog yet, I don’t know, but I should try to get some sleep soon because while we travel from Verona to Milan, there will be three company visits.
