Today we got to enjoy the morning to ourselves. A group of friends and I decided to take advantage of the free morning to climb the bell tower located in the center of Verona. Upon getting to the bell tower I thought we should just take the elevator up but Steve insisted we take the stairs for “the experience” so we decided to climb to the top. When we finally reached the top, the climb was worth it because the view was breath taking. The tower allowed for an amazing 360 view of the city and the surrounding area. We stayed up on the tower for 45 minutes just enjoying the view.
After leaving the bell tower we decided to go back up the mountain that over looked the city because we felt that we were unable to fully appreciate the view of the city from the mountain last night. After climbing up the hill we decided it was absolutely worth doing again during the day time because the views during the day were much better than they were last night.
After we climbed down the hill my friends decided to go back to the hotel to get ready for our company visit but I decided to stay out a bit longer to do some exploring of my own. During this walk around Verona I stumbled upon a castle that I though was pretty cool.
Later in the day we went on a company visit to the Verona Consortium where we learned about how they try to help support smaller companies to allow them to compete with the bigger companies that have more resources. I had a bit of trouble understanding the presentation because the woman presenting to us spoke no English so our tour guide had to translate everything she said. I had more trouble understanding what this company did than I did at the other companies because of the need for translation. I thought the tour of the factory was cool because we got to see all the aspects of clothing production from the design to the cutting out the fabric to the final product.
After the company visit we got dinner next door with a few of the employees in the company. I thought it was very interesting how the workers all hung out together after work before they all went home.
After getting back from the the company visit it was still early so I decided to go for a walk. Steve, Ryan and Emily also joined me for the walk but didn’t believe that I had found a castle earlier so I made it my goal to get back to the castle to show it to them. I quickly realized that I did not remember exactly where the castle was so we ended up wondering around Verona looking for the castle.
When we found the castle we enjoyed views from the bridge while the sun was setting over the river. We thought the castle was cool because it was super old and had a moat around it. I am very disappointed to be leaving Verona after so little time here because it’s been one of my favorite cities.
