Business Day

Today was a very long day. We had three different company visits, each focusing on something new. Our first stop was the logistics center of the fashion consortium company we learned about yesterday. Before touring their warehouse, we got a brief presentation about the e commerce industry in Italy, particularly about Gruppo Sinergia. Basically, this company is a glorified Amazon Prime in which customers choose what they want to purchase and will receive their items within a few hours based on their location.

The next stop was the tailoring company called Sartoria Cavour. This service completely personalizes orders to meet customer needs for suits. I️t was really interesting to see how much work goes into taking the customers requests and altering the fabric based on what they need.

After a nice group lunch with a great view, we took a short bus ride to MF1-Mario Faroni Knitwear Factory where Mario himself showed us around the building. Here, the workers design, create, and manufacture brand named clothing such as Gucci and Givenchy. We got to see a huge room with endless racks of knitwear, all perfectly organized and color coordinated. I️ hadn’t seen anything quite like that before and it sort of reminded me of the exclusivity of Montero Seta SPA in Como. The most interesting part was when we were showed a new brand being created by Mario, called Male to Female, which featured unisex clothing that was reversible.

After all our visits, we took the bus back to Milan where we will be staying for the remainder of the trip. Ciao!
