Day Thirteen: Our Last Day

This morning I enjoyed my last croissant and cappuccino in Italy. After breakfast, we headed to the Milan Fashion Library. This was one of my favorite visits because I love to read books and magazines. We got to look at a ton of old vintage fashion magazines. The one that I read was a Seventeen magazine from 1974. It was funny to look at the ads because many of them were ads for radios, flip phones, or old clothing styles.

After the library, we went to our last group lunch. We got to sit outside, and the food was pretty good. Afterwards, a friend and I decided to visit Castello Sforzesco. The castle was beautiful and so was the park behind it.

Later on, one friend and I went out to find a nice place for our last Italian dinner. We didn’t have much of a plan, but the place we ended up at was some of the best food I had on this trip. We both got the same thing which was duck with a mango sauce and tiramisu for dessert. The bread at this restaurant was also delicious.

I have learned so much on this trip, and I’m so grateful that I was able to have this experience. I’ve made so many new friends that I’m excited to spend time with next semester. Something that I’ve noticed about this trip is that it has allowed me to live in the moment every day. Because many of us don’t have access to our phones when we’re out, it forces us to pay attention to our surroundings and the people that we are with. That has allowed me to get to know others really well, build strong connections with people, learn more, and truly appreciate the beauty and culture of this country.
