Day 11: Presentations

Today, we had our final presentations scheduled for 5:30. This meant that I was able to sleep in, and I took full advantage of that and slept in until 11. This was awesome. Our group then left to the University of Augsburg at around 12:30, and we ate lunch there. We then met up with our group in a room at the library in order to prepare. It is interesting because the library was like the TSA; we had to put all of our materials that we planned on bringing in a bin and clear it past some officer. Our backpacks had to go in lockers. We then went to the room and prepared for our presentation. We just added some finishing touches, and we ran through some rehearsals.

We then went in and presented first. Everyone, myself included, was pretty nervous since this was a big presentation that we put a lot of time preparing for, but we were prepared, so I thought that we did well. We were running out of time towards the end, but our group adjusted, and we were able to finish our presentation with 5 seconds left. The Q and A session was interesting, as some of the German students were giving us some challenging questions, but we answered them pretty well.

After this, it was a great relief to get the presentations over with. The other presentations were interesting, but ours was the best. After the presentations, I joined a lot of Americans at a Donner place, which is like a gyro place, but a Donner is Turkish, and a gyro is greek. We made quite the scene here.

I took a seat on my chair, and the chair slowly leaned back. I heard a crackling sound, and I knew what was about to happen. I tried to get out of this devil-cursed chair, but the struggling just made it worse. I made my way to the ground with the chair broken, and I laid there in shock. I then said, “Damn, I didn’t know I gained that much weight here,” and I got up. The manager came over and asked if I was ok, and I said yes. Our entire group was laughing hysterically.

About 10 minutes after my ordeal, we then hear a siren go off near the handicapped bathroom. It went off for a good amount of time, and everyone looked over expecting a serious emergency involving a handicapped person. The managers came over. We were all concerned. We then witness Arman walk out with a wide grin on his face. He walks over to us and said, “I thought that was the lightbulb.” Between this and my chair situation, Uncle Sam would have been ashamed.
