5/17-Beginning of Goodbye

We are almost done with this wonderful trip. We got some veal sausage from an authentic restaurant. It was like a cafeteria except the food was actually good. Not only good but great. The mustard they gave us was the best condiment I’ve ever had. The sausage was white and you have to peel the skin off of it, which was weird. It was also served in a big pot of water. But once you did the work, oh man is it good. Eric, a friend of mine, and I went to grab a donut and a strange chocolate pastry from an outdoor cart to top off our breakfast. Probably the best breakfast I’ve ever had. I need to re-experience this sausage another time for sure.

We went into a nearby town and took a gondola up a mountain and got a breathtaking view, though masked by some clouds. We almost didn’t go, but I am so glad we did. I loved hiking around and seeing the natural beauty of the towns around us and the German green landscape. I don’t always get enough green in my life.

That evening was the beginning of the end for us. We had a goodbye dinner. All the German students were there and we sat with our group. We had some pretty good food in this fancy restaurant near the town square in Augsburg. I had a pasta dish. We talked about sports for most of the time and then realized we had to say goodbye then. It was a great evening and we realized just how close the end of the trip is. We went out with some of the German students who had time and reminisced and talked for a while. It was a great night, not sure if I am ready for it to end.
