A Day of Exploration and Conquering

Today we woke and headed to breakfast. Sadly, they didn’t have dumplings, but everything was still very good. We then boarded the bus and headed to Hanyang University which is known for their engineering. They were actually the first engineering university in Korea and is one of the best. We first listened to one of the International Affairs office employees talk to us about their winter and summer programs that were very interesting. Afterwards, we heard from one of the professors about his experience teaching in Korea and Korean history and culture. Then, some students came in and showed us around campus. They were very nice, insightful and funny. We went inside the library and then headed to the cafeteria for lunch. After eating a hearty meal, we went to the on-campus museum which highlighted the past accomplishments of the university and its alumni. It also displayed the future of the university and the technology they hoped to research and create. We then went to the front of campus and took pictures in front of these two beautiful buildings and a statue of a lion. Three of us decided to make a funny with the lion, and then we were approach by a guy with this huge camera. The guide explained he was making a documentary for the Korean Government and he interviewed us. We had a blast talking with the camera guy. We then boarded the bus and headed back to the hotel. At the hotel we quickly changed and then left to find something to do. We had a lot of time to explore so we decided to try and conquer the subway. We struggled at first, but we finally figured out what line we had to get on and how to get a ticket. Our final destination was Gangnam, which is the place Psi talked about in his famous song “Gangnam Style”. The subway ride took around 45 minutes and it was very interesting. When we arrived, we found this huge silver ball with different countries flags and realized it was a part of the G20 summit that occurred in Korea. We then stumbled into an underground mall and walked around for a while. We then ate and decided to venture towards the sports complex we had heard about. We found ourselves at the Olympic stadium, which was massive, and right next to it was another huge stadium that was lit up. As curious young adults, we obviously headed towards the bright lights and loud noise. It ended up being a baseball game and we bought tickets and watched the game. The stadium was packed, and the fans were so interactive and enthusiastic. We started cheering for the home team and all the fans were loving our contribution. The home team ended up winning on a walk off and the whole stadium erupted in celebration. Afterwards, we headed back to the subway and passed out instantly once we got to the hotel.
