Samsung, Fried Chicken, and Hongdae

They had a very busy day planned for us as we started the day off very early leaving the hotel around 7:30. After a long bus ride through traffic and a little bit out of the city, we arrived at our first stop of the day, Samsung Biologics. When we got off the bus we were greeted by the VP and Chief Information Officer, James Choi, who also presented to us. He discussed the history and progression of Samsung Biologics and how they succeed in their field. Even being a business major, it was interesting to hear about the different aspects of biologics and their manufacturing. After that we got a short tour of the plant as we were only allowed to see certain things due to privacy and regulations.

Then it was time to leave so we got back on the bus and took the long trip back into the city. After stopping for lunch at this semi fast food/diner restaurant, we went to city hall. At City Hall we were given a tour of the new building and the former city hall which is now the library. The City Hall building is truly beautiful inside and out as it embraces the history and shows the present and future in some of the architecture and systems. After touring city hall we moved on to our last stop of the day which was Seoul Global Startup Center. It was already a long day and we were all tired but the visit was pretty cool to learn about how they help startups that are created by foreigners as they said it is very hard a near impossible to start a business in Korea as a foreigner. After a brief tour we were done for the day and got to go back to the hotel. Some of the other guys and I went with Dr. Yun to get Korean fried chicken and I would have to agree with him as it was some of the best fired chicken I ever had. To close out the night we decided to go out and explore another part of the city in Hongdae which is a popular shopping area for many college students and has a lot of things to do.
