NAVER: The Google of South Korea

On Thursday, we only had one visit planned for the day. We woke up and had breakfast as usual before we had to meet to leave around 9 to take the bus to NAVER. The bus ride to NAVER was not long as it only took about 30-35 minutes to get there. NAVER is the Google of South Korea as they serve as the primary search engine in addition to expanding there business into other fields with technology, apps, etc. One of their apps is called Papago which is a language translation tool similar to google translate. We began the visit with a presentation followed up with opportunities to ask questions. During the presentation they showed us how to use some of their apps and technology which was really cool and shows how much progression they have had with technology. After that we were given a tour of their building to see all their facilities and rooms throughout the building. It was amazing how nice some of the rooms and technology they used throughout to be environmentally friendly and to have things to support their employees. They had a library, gym, doctors, cafeteria, post office, bank, and so many more things within the building for employees. After the tour we left and went back to the hotel where we had the rest of the day free to ourselves.

A group of us decided to go to Namdaemun, which is the large street market, to walk around and find some things to buy for cheap. After eating some street food for dinner at the market, we went to the North Seoul Tower. The North Seoul Tower is a popular observation tower where you can look over the city. It was amazing to look over the city at night as you could see the lights go for as far as you can see, which shows you have large the city of Seoul. After that we wanted to visit a new part of Seoul, so we went to Itaewon which is another popular area with shopping and restaurants.
