US Consulate and Pusan University

Well we have made it to our last day of scheduled visits as we have one site visit and our second and final university visit for the trip. Our first stop was originally planned for SECO MIBOGEAR but unfortunately that was cancelled. However, they were able to get us a visit with the US Consulate in Busan. At this visit we had the opportunity to meet the head US Diplomat in the South Eastern part of South Korea. He talked to us about what he does and how he handles relations with South Korea and the citizens. It was a pretty interesting visit and we also got to tour the rooms of the consulate, which was small, as he said it was one of the smallest consulates in the world. After this we went to lunch before we had to go the Pusan National University for our visit. When we got to Pusan National University we began with a presentation that told us about the history of their university and how they rank within Korea and the world. After this we got to hear a professor give us a lecture on North Korea and different aspects about their government, culture, and relations. It was pretty interesting as I knew most of the basics on North Korea, but within a 50-minute lecture I was able to learn a lot more about North Korea and some of their history. After the lecture we went on a tour of the university as we got to see some of their buildings and equipment within the engineering department. Their campus was pretty nice, but it was all on a hill so it would be pretty difficult to walk everywhere on campus, luckily we took our bus for most of the tour. After the tour we said goodbye to the students that were with us and we went on our way back to the hotel. That night some of us went out to explore other parts of Busan and some of the food and restaurants that they have in the main streets to get some food for dinner. Then we went back to the hotel to relax and catch up on some needed sleep towards the end of the trip.
