Hi! My name is Lauren Halferty and I am from an area about 45 minutes outside of Philadelphia. I am an incoming junior in Pitt Business, majoring in Marketing & Finance with a certificate in International Business. After graduation, I would like to find a career in the music industry. I’ve always had a passion for music and would love to be in a position where I can apply the skills I’ve acquired at Pitt to the business side of the industry. I have been working remotely for an artist management and development company, DNT Entertainment, for the past year and will continue to do so this summer. 

I’ve chosen Plus 3 Ireland because I really want to push myself outside of my comfort zone and further develop the skills I have gained at Pitt Business. My family has an Irish background so I am very excited to explore Dublin and learn about the Irish culture first-hand. After a year and or so of hybrid learning, I am really looking forward to traveling, seeing different places and meeting new people!

Personally, I hope to become more independent while abroad which will help prepare me for the full semester abroad I intend to have next spring. Professionally speaking, I am most interested in becoming a well-rounded business student who can adapt to different environments. In our pre-departure classes we have discussed how cultures can vary around the world and how that can impact business. While in Ireland, I want to learn how to adapt to changing conditions in the professional world. This will prepare me for my future career, as the music industry is heavily reliant on flexibility and personal relationships across the globe. In terms of academic development, I hope to refine my team working skills since I will be working with new people and personalities.
