Ben’s Blogging Beginning

Thank you for checking out my blog! My name is Ben Glasl, and I am from Brockway, Pennsylvania which is about 2 hours northeast from Pitt. I am wrapping up my freshman year at the University of Pittsburgh studying Finance and Accounting. When I’m not in the classroom, most of my time is spent outdoors hiking, fishing, and playing baseball.

Academically, I have found a love for finance and accounting. This year I joined Panther Equity, an investment club on campus, which has allowed me to grow my research knowledge beyond the classroom. I also joined LEAP, a data analytics club, to increase my excel and data analytics skills. Both of these clubs helped me find a path in the business school and got me interested in equity research and consulting. This summer I will be doing an accounting internship at Varischetti Holdings in Brockway, PA, which encompasses powdered metal, healthcare, and construction equipment. I hope to gain more accounting knowledge that can help me succeed in the classroom and help me discover more of what I love.

In May, I will be participating in the Plus3 Ecuador program. This program was most interesting to me because it was a perfect opportunity to grow my knowledge while also spending two weeks studying mainly outdoors! On this trip I hope to grow my relationships with my group members while also meeting many new people in Ecuador and learning about what they do. I also am so excited to learn more about the supply chain of chocolate and flowers at its core. Professionally, I hope to gain valuable knowledge that I can share in future class discussions and future work opportunities. I also am eager to learn more about business outside of the U.S. while also hopefully meeting some amazing people along the way.
