Join me on Ben’s Blog

Hello everyone, and welcome to Ben’s Blog. My name is Ben Eyer and I am from King of Prussia, Pennsylvania (about 25 minutes from Philly, you probably know us for our mall). I am a freshman here at Pitt, intending to major in either accounting or supply chain management. I am hoping that through my Plus3 experience, which will give me an insight into the supply chain of chocolates and roses in Ecuador, I will be able to decide which major is right for me. Back in King of Prussia, I work at Dick’s Sporting Goods. My favorite hobbies are anything sports related (especially baseball, basketball, and football), going to the gym, hanging out with my friends and family, and enjoying nature. At home, I can regularly be found at Buffalo Wild Wings, on a basketball court with my friends, or walking my dog, Amber.

As a freshman here at Pitt, I am still trying to figure out what I would like to major in and find potential career industries. Through my experiences both in and out of the classroom, I have narrowed down my potential majors to accounting or supply chain management. Additionally, I will most likely be pursuing a minor in economics, but I am still deciding if it is something I would like to do. At Pitt, I am an active brother of Delta Sigma Pi, one of Pitt’s business fraternities. I rushed in the fall of 2021 and have met so many interesting brothers in the organization that have given me a lot of professional advice. In the future, I would love to join other clubs at Pitt such as Panther Equity or a sports club. I also love getting involved with Pitt’s intramural leagues. Most recently my friends and I played in the Spring basketball league.

This May, I will be participating on the Plus3 Ecuador program. I initially heard about the Plus3 programs from my RA and upon listening to him talk about his trip to South Korea, I knew I would love to be a part of this experience. I chose Ecuador because I was very interested in the opportunity to experience the culture and nature in this beautiful country (I’m really hoping to see a Toucan). I also hope to learn about the unique supply chains of chocolate and roses. Academically, I hope that this experience will allow me to decide if supply chain is the major for me, as well as further my knowledge of business. Professionally, I am looking forward to meeting with the various businesses and meeting all the people that will help me on my journey. I am looking forward to gaining in-depth knowledge into global supply chains and seeing them in action too. I am looking forward to meeting tons of new people and creating lasting relationships with all my group mates on this trip.
