A Little Me Before Germany

If you clicked into this blog post, chances are you’re a bit like me and like things that rhyme. Unfortunately, I don’t have any more rhymes for this post, but while you’re here allow me to introduce myself! My name is Peter Busch, and I am just finishing up my freshman year at the University of Pittsburgh. I’m majoring in Accounting and Finance, and am working towards a certificate in business analytics. I am a graduate of the Pitt LEADS program, and was a member of the Pitt Provost Academy this year. Professionally, I have worked at Target for about 2 years now in various departments, and have simultaneously worked as a lifeguard for Whitehall Township.

Contrary to the super-serious professional photo above, I tend to be a pretty easy-going guy during my free time. I’m from Allentown, Pennsylvania, which is about an hour north of Philadelphia. I live and breathe the Philadelphia Eagles (sorry Steelers fans), and interact with my community a lot when I’m home. I’m an Eagle Scout, so meeting new people and exploring new places is woven into my DNA. Finally, I have an identical twin brother named Jacob who goes to Penn State (we don’t talk about the Penn State bit).

I chose the Plus3 Germany program for a variety of reasons, but there are a few that I’d like to highlight. The Plus3 program in general provides younger students with the opportunity to get a sample of what studying abroad is really like. The program is only two weeks long, so there’s no massive time commitment if studying abroad doesn’t turn out to be your thing. The program is also very structured, so you aren’t on your own when trying to navigate a new environment. Overall, I think this program is perfect for students who want to explore studying abroad for the first time.

On the Plus3 Germany trip, there are a variety of things which I hope to accomplish. Personally, I hope to expand my comfort zones and to become more familiar with German culture. Academically, I hope to perform well on all assignments and to be a valuable contributor to my team. Professionally, I hope to cultivate an international perspective on business operations.

I can’t wait to keep writing about my experiences in Germany for you all!
