Anna George in Germany

Hi everyone! My name is Anna George, and I am a freshman at the Swanson School of Engineering. I have just declared my major as Mechanical Engineering. I hope to one day work in robotics, nanotechnology or the energy industry. I love to design, program, and build new things like robots from Star Wars and solar powered battery chargers!

Some of my extracurriculars at Pitt include playing intramural soccer and being a member of the Society of Women Engineers. This semester, I was also initiated as a member of Phi Sigma Rho, a sorority for women in STEM.

Outside of school, I love to read (specifically fantasy and sci-fi novels!), knit, and bake. You can find me on a warm weekend at Pitt outside of the Carnegie Library reading in my hammock. I also love to listen to music–mostly Hozier, Taylor Swift, and the Lumineers.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to travel to Germany with the Plus3 Program this summer! I have long wanted to travel to Germany because of the culture, food, people, and beautiful views. While in Germany, I hope to learn more about German industry and how the engineering workplace culture differs from that of the U.S. Furthermore, my personal engineering passions link closely with everything I will learn on Plus3 Germany about the automobile industry and the design and automation process.
