Hello! My name is Ashna Goel, and I am a first-year engineering student at the University of Pittsburgh. I plan to major in bioengineering because I love how the field is versatile and has various applications. I am incredibly excited to be going to Germany this summer for two weeks! I love traveling, and growing up, my family and I were avid travelers. For the past five years, I have lived in Nashville, TN. However, I was born in San Marcos, TX, and lived in Clevland, OH, and Charlotte, NC, for part of my childhood. In my free time, I love to watch movies and tv-shows.

Furthermore, I enjoy reading, singing, and playing the piano. My first year of college has had its ups and downs, but I feel like I have significantly grown. The most challenging adjustment to college for me was leaving my parents and younger sister. I am super close with my family, and even though it is embarrassing to admit it, my parents are my best friends. However, I am super excited because my sister just committed to the Nursing program at Pitt, so she will be joining me at Pitt next year! I am so grateful that I was given this opportunity, and I plan to make the most of this experience! I chose Plus3 Germany because I’ve always been fascinated with German history. Throughout my childhood, I played the piano, so I grew up listening to and playing Beethoven, Brahms, Bach, and more.

Additionally, my dad used to work for a German company called BASF, and I remember him traveling to Germany for business trips incessantly. While I like to maintain I have visited Germany; I have only been to the airport in Dusseldorf due to a layover. So, when I was presented with the option of exploring the country, I couldn’t let the opportunity go. I wanted to gain more knowledge about the culture of Germany and try different german foods. Also, I have always loved European cars due to their remarkable design and quality. I look forward to sharing more about my adventures as I explore Germany. Until next time!
