About Me and Plus 3 Cyprus!

Hello everyone! My name is Jill Brockhoff and I am a freshman in the Swanson School of Engineering at Pitt. I am a bioengineering major with the intention of pursuing the medical product track, as well as a minor in industrial engineering. Outside of school, I am a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society, the Society of Women Engineers, and the Pitt Dance Ensemble. I also cheered and danced competitively for 6 and 14 years respectively before coming to college. I am also a huge Pitt sports fan and enjoy attending the football and basketball games during their seasons.

At home, I have one older brother, who also went to Pitt for mechanical engineering, and a cat named Winston. I am from about 30 minutes from Pittsburgh, so I have grown up visiting the city often. Some of my favorite things to do in the city that I highly recommend are eating at the Grand Concourse at Station Square and seeing a show at the Benedum Center in the Cultural District if you get a chance.

I first heard about Plus 3 before I committed to Pitt from the Pink Panther Program. I immediately recognized it as the perfect way to experiment with cultural experiential learning early on so that I can plan accordingly in the future of my academic career. I felt so strongly about the Plus 3 program that it was one of the top reasons I chose to commit to Pitt.

My family has always loved to travel, but we have never visited anywhere like Cyprus. However, this is one of the reasons I am most excited to go! The Mediterranean is a beautiful place from what I have seen and I cannot wait to experience it in person. I also believe that the business exploration aspect will provide a greater understanding of global market that is only growing in today’s world. Cyprus is a perfect place to begin learning about international business due to its central location and melting pot of cultures due to its complex history.

With that, welcome to my blog! I cannot wait to experience all that Cyprus has to offer and share it with you!
