Hi! My name is Mary Ella McCarthy, and I am from Mars, PA, about 30 minutes from the Oakland campus. I am a first-year student majoring in nursing with a Global Health certificate. I am involved in the Nursing Student Association (NSA) and its Service Committee, Club Running, and Greek Life. In my free time, I love to run and hang out with my two cats, Ron and Ginny. In the future, I hope to pursue a DNP in Psychiatry Nursing.

I am so excited to be a part of the Plus3 Program traveling to the UK this May! I chose Plus3 to learn about UK’s healthcare and education systems and its differences compared to the US. I am passionate about patient advocacy and looking forward to visiting the hospitals and schools. Lastly, I cannot wait to explore and especially excited to try new food in Birmingham and London!
