Hello!
My name is Audrey Schroeder. While I hail from Columbus, Ohio, I am currently an undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh- Oakland (’25). I am one of four kids, I love running, hanging out with my friends, and going on adventures. At Pitt, I am very active in the Newman Club; I definitely recommend that everyone checks it out.
If I had to describe myself I would say that first and foremost, I am a daughter of God. I find my identity in my Catholic faith. It is integral to every aspect of my personal, academic, and professional life. As C.S. Lewis, one of my favorite authors so aptly declares, “Look for yourself, and you will find loneliness and despair. But look for Christ, and you will find Him and everything else.”
I am a first-year nursing student, pursuing my BSN coupled with a Global Health Certificate and hopefully a Medical Spanish Minor. My passion lies in women-centered health care.
Specifically, I want to pursue labor & delivery nursing, so that I can be an advocate for women, infants, and strong families. I want to study public health to create reform so that women have access to every necessary resource in order to sustain healthy pregnancies and raise healthy children. I believe that it is crucial to fight for the most vulnerable people in society, which are women and the unborn.
I feel so blessed to be attending the Plus3 UK trip. We are studying public health systems and disparities at Birmingham City University. We will get some experiential learning at both UK hospitals and schools. Personally, I chose to go on this trip to broaden my perspective on the world. I absolutely love traveling! Academically, I chose to go on this trip because it is the perfect opportunity to immerse myself in a “semi-clinical” setting prior to my sophomore year clinical rotations. Professionally, I chose to go on this trip to enrich my understanding of different cultural disparities, which will one day help me to better serve women in the United States.
I can’t wait to share this journey with everyone:)
