After being in Heredia for the last day and a half, I have started to understand the culture of it here a little bit. To be completely honest, I expected the city to look exactly as it does. I took many years of Spanish in high school and we watched a lot of videos that showed different Latin American cities. They all are different from one another, however I see many similarities among the cities I knew prior to coming here.

Today I had my first experience with speaking to someone in Spanish. I was really nervous going into it because I thought they would judge me, however I was completely wrong. I got by fine with my distorted Spanish. I realized that they like when we try to speak Spanish as much as I like when they try to speak English.

So far, I really am loving it here. I was a bit nervous about being in a city with a lot of people, but it’s really cool to see how much unique culture is here. I can’t wait to experience the rest of Costa Rica.
