As a consultant who is tasked with doing business in a country that is not their own, historical significance is integral for a good understanding of whatever task that you will be made to handle. One of the important jobs of a consultant is to gather as much information as possible, through both primary and secondary sources, and using it to inform your research and help you solve whatever problem is at hand. It is also important to realize that we are living through history right now, as Darragh pointed out, and that it is important to realize that history guides the actions of many people. This includes both the history of governance in a nation and the history of enterprise, and what forces have shaped it in the past and present. Even just a general understanding of the history and business customs of the nation will give a consultant a better understanding of what they are dealing with.

The first days in Dublin have been both exciting and surprising. What surprised me was just how much nature and greenery were interspersed with the city living and the residential areas and businesses. It along with the walkable nature of the city and lack of behemoth skyscrapers makes the city feel more pleasant and comfortable. Some of the houses and residential areas on the side streets felt different than what I was expecting in that they looked almost like American suburb houses and were nearby shops and other districts, which must be convenient. I also was surprised by how prevalent jaywalking seemed to be throughout the city and the relationship between cars and pedestrians in the city.

I can’t wait to see what more Dublin has to offer!
