Medochemie and Wargaming

Today we visited two companies, Medochemie and Wargaming. Medochemie is a company specializing in medicine manufacturing, working as a third party manufacturer and a generic brand for a lot of different medicines. Wargaming is a company that focuses on making games specifically focused around World War 2, with their flagship titles being about tanks, planes, and ships used in this war.

At Medochemie, we were able to enter the company, then we got a lecture from them. They told us everything from how they manage their supply chain to how they dealt with COVID and the war in Ukraine. They then took us down to their storage facility, which I really enjoyed. It was essentially a massive warehouse underneath their offices, filled to the brim with boxes on giant shelves. It was also enhanced by having the shelves be able to move around to more effectively use the space. They also had this one large motion-activated door that kept opening and closing the whole time they were showing us this location.

After Medochemie, we went back to the University of Nicosia, where we were met by Wargaming. They gave us a lecture on their global market and how much they have grown in the past decade. Then, one of the people in rapid prototyping described the process of bringing a game, from idea to product, to market. I thought the game design facet was overall pretty fascinating, especially because I tried to make games myself when I was younger.

Overall, I really enjoyed today and thought that both lectures were interesting in their own rights, while also providing different perspectives from two wildly different companies. I did appreciate how Medochemie was more hands on, though, allowing us to explore the facility a little bit.
