Days Six and Seven in Cyprus

We had a very packed but fun weekend. It began with a surprise tour of the countryside as we drove to Limassol by my favorite tour guide. Our first stop was the Kourion ruins which included a look at an ancient amphitheater and a wealthy house which included the original clay pipes that brought water to the house. Then we got back on the bus and headed to Aphrodite’s Rock. This stop was one of my favorites of the trip so far. Climbing the boulder was a lot of fun and the view from the top was amazing.

After Aphrodite’s Rock, we toured the Tomb of the Kings which do not actually belong to kings. They received their name from their impressive structure. Then we went to lunch at a restaurant that had a pelican walking around its patio. Then we toured the Pafos mosaic sight and saw the mosaic floor decorations of an ancient house. After this stop, we were finally down for the day and headed to dinner before settling into our hotel for the night.

Today began with a very good Cyprus breakfast at our hotel and was followed by a laid back day at the beach. Despite being American, we played soccer but then proceeded to accidentally hit the ball toward nearby beach goers. Overall it was a very fun but exhausting day.
