Today was an extremely early wake-up call, and I did not feel like getting out of my cozy bed, but it was so worth it! We walked to the bus stop and started our drive to the Cliffs of Moher. Prior to this trip, I was already familiar with the cliffs for two reasons. One is they are located in county Clare and the other is my grandparents went to the cliffs for their 25th wedding anniversary! I have heard so many wonderful things about them from my grandparents so I was excited to see them for myself. One thing that stood out to me throughout this ride was the Barrack Obama rest stop. Since it was so early in the morning, I half-heard what the tour guide said, but when we got off the bus, there was a whole mini-museum upstairs for Obama. This was very fun to see since I really had no idea how much the Irish loved Obama. Something that I have also noticed since being here is how clean everything is. When we got off at the Obama rest stop, it was extremely clean and in much better condition than some of the PA turnpike rest stops. Also, every single bathroom here uses hand dryers rather than towels. I think that is for environmental reasons as well as health. With hand dryers, users don’t have to touch more unnecessary surfaces. This is an extremely appealing feature for travelers, especially with the pandemic. Anywhere I have gone such as restaurants or stores have felt very clean and was equipped with hand sanitizer. I would make sure to really emphasize this aspect if I was advertising Ireland because I think a lot of people are hesitant to travel to a different country due to the pandemic. I would also talk about the beautiful scenery at places such as The Cliffs of Moher! I absolutely loved our time spent at The Cliffs today and down below I include a picture from our trip.
