The final day. Our day started at 8 AM with a visit to the Port of Vasilikos. We started by hearing from Vasiliko Cement Works on their supply chain and how they make concrete. I never thought I would be interested in this topic, but Vasiliko Cement Works did an amazing job keeping us engaged and explaining their business in an interesting way. We then heard from an energy storage company called VTTV, and learned about their usage of the port through a presentation and a fun Kahoot. Once we were finished with the presentations, we got to put on hard hats and vests and tour the port firsthand. Unlike the Limassol port, this port had an intricate network of pipelines in order to move necessary materials for both the production of cement and energy storage. The piplines also extended 1500km into hte ocean wehich created a cool T shape design i had not seen before.
After the Vasiliko port, we traveled to Larnaca for lunch and a beach day. My friends and I opted for and American lunch, as I got a burger with fries. After lunch, We went souvenir shopping, and i picked up trinkets for my entire family. Once we were finished shopping, we played soccer to build up a sweat, and then swam. In the water we continued our competitive trend and played jackpot in the water, a game where players fight for a ball. We may have been a little bit of obnoxious-American’s, but we had a blast.
When we got back, we had our farewell meeting and our instructors gave us trivia questions based on our adventures from the week. It was a great way to close out our trip, and it made me sad to go. However, right after this meeting, I still got to enjoy one final dinner with my closest friends, followed by a great dessert as well. All in all, studying in Cyprus was one of my favorite experiences, and one that I will hold with me for the rest of my life.
